Thanks, old Groupons!

Today I went to Mud Pie bakery in Volker, because I had a Groupon from long ago, that expires at the end of July. So, free cappuccino and a vegan cupcake! Fine, not free... Just prepaid and discounted. It's so nice to be doing my catch up work in a coffee shop- I did this all the time before the Freeze- I concentrate better in public. BONUS: I ran into 2 friends from Interfuse!

Prepaid stuff! Woot!

That was my only active Groupon, so I checked my expired ones since you can still use them for the amount you paid since not the promotional code. I found one for Winslow's BBQ, and I headed that way for late lunch- without telling him my situation, the manager compted the entire meal. How nice was that? I would have paid any extra that went over the Groupon. What a nice guy. It was good food too, and there was live blues on the back patio. It was nice to be dining out again and for free a prepaid amount. It truly felt like a privilege to be doing it.

I have 4 expired Groupons left that never got used- two are back east, so if any of you Jersey peeps want to go to The NJ State Museum in Trenton, lemme know, and the Groupon is yours. The other one was for Cumin Café in New Hope, PA. This place closed down, so I contacted Groupon to see if I can get a refund, since I never got to use the expired (but still applicable for the amount I paid) Groupon. We'll see. I might get $10 in Groupon Bucks back :)

Then I have 2 in Kansas City- one for New Day Yoga, and the other for Monster Mountain climbing gym. I also have a 20-class pass from Darling Yoga, that needs to be used up by October, and I think I have like 16 classes left on that. So lots of free things to do.

Groupons aside, this morning I got in a fight with my neighbor's sister, because she parked directly behind my car and blocked me in (I'm sure she did this thoughtlessly and not maliciously, since she and I had never interacted up to this point), and refused to move her car because she didn't like that, after waiting for 15 minutes while this car of hers was locked and had the engine off, that I said, "You need to move your car so I can get out." She said because I was "rude", she wouldn't move it. I told her that she was rude to block me in and then turn off her car and leave it for 15 minutes. So I called the police. Halfway through my phone call, the neighbor's girlfriend/wife came out to move the van, so I dropped it. I did call my leasing office to report it, though. In case there is any backlash in the form of vandalism to my car, or something.

But I think it's time to move. The pool/hot tubs at the apartment complex have been closed for 3 days due to "vandalism" (ie, broken glass in the window directly over the pool, from horseplay). I've got some promising options to move in with friends and do the roommate thing again. Which I wouldn't mind, honestly. It would be nice to save more money, and for Petri to have more social interaction when I'm out of the house. As long as I have a private room I'm happy. I will sorely miss having access to a hot tub, and depending where I move I will be sad to move farther from Shawnee Mission Park, but I'll still go often. My rent is great (considering I lived in NJ, DC and NY before moving here): My one bedroom is $770/month including pet rent, plus fluctuating utilities. Living alone is amazing, but anybody I would live with is the type of person who won't take it personally if I introvert for long periods (most of my friends are introverts anyway, and we all have a policy that we can take time outs whenever we want). Also, all the people on my "might live with" list are clean and organized, respectful, not uptight about visitors, live in a convenient location, and love Petri (or they will soon, if they haven't yet met him). And to have that extra money every month to pay off debt, then eventually travel with... Worth it.

I don't see cohabitation with friends as a step backwards. More like a step forwards to have more adventures!
